Death Grip animates a Risen Skulker or Magus of the Dead for 60 sec.
Killing an enemy that yields experience or honor refreshes 1 charge of Death Grip.
NOTE: The best Torghast ability made into a talent. It is simply fun and interactive.
Gain Inexorable Assault every 8 sec, stacking up to 5 times.
Frost Strike consumes a stack to deal an additional X Frost damage.
NOTE: With so much focus and damage going into Obliterate these days, I think this might be better with Frost Strike instead.
Every second you gain a stack of Cold Heart, causing your next Chains of Ice to deal additional Frost damage. Stacks up to 10 times.
NOTE: I believe this concept would work better if we were using it more often to break up the normal gameplay loop. It would then synergize better with PvP gameplay and also be easier to balance since it's currently nerfed in PvP. Besides, we are already pumping out good damage in our PoF window with Obliteration.
Death Grip instead pulls you to your target.
NOTE: This should have been added as a talent many years ago.
Your movement speed is increased by 15% at all times and the cooldown of Death's Advance is reduced by 15 sec.
NOTE: Simple improvement to our base mobility. It can be useful and works within this row of choices.
1 min cooldown
Embrace the power of the Shadowlands, removing all root effects and increasing your movement speed by 100% for 4 sec. Taking any action cancels the effect.
While active, your movement speed cannot be reduced below 170%.
NOTE: Movement speed increase should by 100% for a one minute cooldown. Plus that keeps it competitive with the other options in this row.
Death Grip gains 2 charges and the range of Death Grip is increased by 10 yds.
NOTE: This talent synergizes with both of the two options above it. Because this talent can increase damage output through the Deathbringer talent, it makes sense for the other talents on this row to deal damage.
45 sec cooldown
Lifts the enemy target off the ground, crushing their throat with dark energy and stunning them for 4 sec.
The enemy suffers intense Shadow damage each sec while the effect persists.
NOTE: Your target is obviously in pain, so they should be taking damage. Plus it just adds more fun to the game.
1 min cooldown
Targets in a cone in front of you are struck with Frost damage and are blinded, causing them to wander disoriented for 5 sec. Further damage may cancel the effect.
When Blinding Sleet ends, enemies are slowed by 50% for 6 sec.
NOTE: Damage effect added to keep it inline with the change to Asphyxiate dealing damage.
Your melee attack speed is increased by 20% and while you have fewer than 3 full Runes, your auto attacks radiate intense cold, inflicting Frost damage on all nearby enemies.
NOTE: Icy Talons and Frozen Pulse combined into one talent. This setup is made for dual-wielding exclusively.
Howling Blast damage increased by 100%.
Obliterate has an additional 20% chance to trigger Rime and 2 charges of Rime can be stored.
Note: Great quality-of-life option that allows more player agency with ability usage.
2 Runes
A sweeping attack that deals Frost damage to all enemies in front of you and applies Razorice.
Note: Attack should be based on mainhand damage so that this ability is better using a 2-handed weapon. This is in contrast to Icy Talons in the same row that benefits dual-wielding more. The idea is that we would use our runes on this ability when Killing Machine is not available.
Frost Strike damage grants you an absorb shield equal to X% of the damage dealt.
NOTE: First and foremost, it just makes more sense tying the mechanic to Frost Strike instead of auto-attacks. But also, it should make it easier to balance things between 2H and DW gameplay.
Increases the duration of Anti-Magic Shell by 100% and any damage it absorbs heals you.
NOTE: Great concept lifted from one of our Shadowlands Legendaries.
2 min cooldown
Create a death pact that heals you for 50% of your maximum health, but reduces your healing by 25% for 10 sec.
NOTE: That healing debuff has got to be changed. It's currently too punishing and is really confusing for healers.
The cooldown of Remorseless Winter is increased to 1 minute but each Rune spent during Remorseless Winter increases its damage by 30%, and extends its duration by .5 sec.
NOTE: Remorseless Winter became less epic when we started having it up most of the time, which is a shame. Plus it is a total hazard for visibility in many cases. Honestly, I would prefer it to be a one or two minute cooldown baseline.
25 Runic Power
Summon glacial spikes from the ground that advance forward, each dealing Frost damage.
NOTE: This has traditionally been a difficult ability to use. But, there is no reason it should have a cooldown. If you take this ability, then you should just use it instead of Frost Strike. Keep it simple. Also, the Razorice application mechanic is much better combined with Frostscythe for a multitude of reasons.
30 sec cooldown
1 Rune
Infest your target with a plagued parasite that radiates Shadow damage over 30 sec, dealing damage to your target and all other enemies within 10 yds of the infested enemy. Damage is further increased by your critical strike chance.
NOTE: Frost needs more options that resonate with the core concept of the class. Due to our Mastery, this has been difficult as almost everything deals Frost damage. But by borrowing a mechanic from Chaos Bolt, we can remedy the problem.
Frost Strike deals 50% additional damage to enemies below 25% health. If the struck target survives, then you regain 5 Runic Power.
NOTE: At one time, Frost could deal extra execute damage back in the day. I think this is a cool way to bring that back.
While Pillar of Frost is active, Frost Strike and Howling Blast always grant Killing Machine and have a 100% chance to generate a Rune.
2 min cooldown
16 Runic Power per sec
Continuously deal Frost damage every 1 sec to enemies in a cone in front of you, until your Runic Power is exhausted. Deals reduced damage to secondary targets.
Generates 2 Rune at the start and end.
